Agenda

4:30 PM

Join a fun-filled evening with peers from across the country at the opening of the 2024 CFO Roundtable. A pleasant evening in Ashtamudi, the company of friends and peers - there couldn’t be a better way of bringing in a weekend of learning and deep camaraderie. The IMA India team will detail plans for the weekend as we grab a few scrumptious snacks and drinks.

5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Ashok Bhattacharya, Editorial Director, Business Standard

For the past decade, Indian politics has seen a prolonged period of stability, with single-party rule appearing to supplant an era of coalitions. However, the recent elections have once again thrown up a coalition government, albeit one where the BJP holds a hefty share. Early indications suggest that policy continuity may be upheld, raising the likelihood that the NDA’s long-term plans will come to fruition. This session will explore the interplay between the economic and political factors shaping the Central government's policy priorities. It will also examine recent policy decisions, analyse their impacts, and consider future directions.

7:30 PM

This is the third item's accordion body. It is hidden by default, until the collapse plugin adds the appropriate classes that we use to style each element. These classes control the overall appearance, as well as the showing and hiding via CSS transitions. You can modify any of this with custom CSS or overriding our default variables. It's also worth noting that just about any HTML can go within the .accordion-body, though the transition does limit overflow.

9:00 AM – 10:15 AM

Karthik Muralidharan, Tata Chancellor's Professor of economics, University of California, San Diego.
India is an increasingly prominent player in the global economic landscape, and has captivated the attention of investors, policymakers and businesses worldwide. India’s states have played an active part in shaping the country’s overall economic growth and development trajectory, and they will need to play an even greater role in rolling out next generation reforms. This session will highlight the centrality of state-level actions to accelerate both economic growth and human development in India, with a focus on governance and better delivery of essential public services (including education, health, regulation, urban infrastructure, and rule of law) as the key to boosting jobs, productivity, and economic growth. It will also examine how state governments and the private sector can collaborate to drive growth and development.

10:15 AM - 10:30 AM

10:30 AM - 11:45 AM

This discussion will offer a bird’s eye perspective on current global trends, followed by a focused look at India’s markets and their strategic positioning for growth within the ongoing bull market. Expect a deep dive into the linkage of capital markets with key implications on risks and opportunity.

Sunil Golecha, CFO- Asia Pacific & Japan, Palo Alto Networks
In today's digital landscape, the CFO’s responsibilities have expanded to include a key role in cybersecurity risk management. The rise of AI introduces both opportunities and risks, as organizations leverage AI for innovation while facing new vulnerabilities. CFOs must now assess the financial impact of AI-driven threats, such as data breaches and regulatory non-compliance, while also combating increasingly sophisticated attacks powered by AI. Collaborating closely with the CIO and CISO, CFOs are tasked with balancing security investments, ensuring compliance, and protecting the organization’s financial health in this evolving threat landscape. This session will provide attendees a deeper understanding of the CFO’s evolving role in safeguarding their organisations in an era of AI-driven threats.

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Sandeep Yadav, Head – Fixed Income, DSP Mutual Fund
In a period of geopolitical and macroeconomic flux, effective treasury management has a key role in managing risk and supporting growth. Globally, inflation is ebbing but economic growth, including in key markets like the US, remains finely poised. Election-related risks and ongoing wars in the Middle East and Europe muddy the outlook further. What are forward-looking Finance departments doing in terms of optimising liquidity, managing interest rate risk and achieving consistent returns? What role does fixed-income play today, given the interplay of market forces and the changing tax treatment for such instruments? How can a strategic approach to Treasury balance the need for stability with the pursuit of growth in a dynamic financial environment? What role can technology and data analytics play, and what are some best practices that Finance should be following?

3:15 PM - 3:30 PM

3:30 PM - 4:45 PM

All of these political changes come amidst growing economic and geopolitical strife and rising global debt, creating uncertainties that will affect policy frameworks, financial markets and trade.
