ISIS

The rise of Islamic State is a result of many factors, including the marginalisation of Sunni Muslims in Iraq under the administration of former Prime Minister, Nouri Al-Maliki. Yet, its spread could have been contained had US President Barack Obama not adopted a policy of disengagement from the Middle East. Mr Obama is now orchestrating global action. However, IS is really an embodiment of a deeper political vacuum in the Middle East, which even America cannot fix in a hurry.
